Spiked Gelato
Melt Café and Gelato Bar, 1053 Second Ave., at 55th street; 646-329-6445

This Midtown Italian-inspired gelato shop features alcohol-infused flavors such as Lemon White Wine, Irish Coffee and Amaretto & Chocolate. “I enjoy a good drink, and right now gelato is my life,” says Melt owner Joe Sparacello. “So I figured, why not mix the two?” Sparacello got the idea for his Lemon White Wine gelato when a customer stopped by to congratulate the new store owner with a bottle of Chardonnay. “We made the concoction right then and there,” he says. Other best sellers include Irish Coffee, an espresso-based gelato with a hint of Kahlua, and Taste of Italy, a chocolate and amaretto mix ($4.28 for 4 ounces).

Melt Gelato and Crepe Café just opened its first NYC location this summer at 1053 2nd Avenue (between 55th and 56th Streets).

Melt serves authentic Italian gelato, sorbetto, and frozen yogurt, as well as sweet and savory crepes, panini, salads and other food.

During the ALCS and hopefully the World Series, when the Yankees make it through, Melt is going to be showing the games on its TV and offering free gelato every time a Yankee hits a home run.

Melt has blueberry and vanilla sorbet for the Yankee colors and a mint "Godzilla" gelato in honor of Hideki Matsui.
